Anti-Iraq War Activist Sheehan Calls For Bush Impeachment
By Cliff Montgomery - July 9th, 2007
It eventually had to come to this.
Feisty anti-Iraq War activist Cindy Sheehan declared Sunday that she will vie for the seat of House Speaker
Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), unless the Speaker enters articles of impeachment against George W. Bush within the
next two weeks.
Sheehan's deadline of July 23rd coincides with the day she and other Pro-Truth activists are to descend on
Washington, D.C. It will be the final stop of the group's 13-day caravan from its war protest site at Bush's
secluded Crawford, Texas getaway.
Sheehan told reporters that she resides in a Sacramento suburb, but declined to disclose the exact location,
citing safety reasons. She is understandably afraid that the self-proclaimed "true Americans" may do God
knows what to her person and her property for daring to disagree with them in public.
Sheehan then declared that she may run against Pelosi in 2008 if the House speaker doesn't enter the
impeachment articles in two weeks. Sheehan also told reporters she would run as an independent and "would
give [Pelosi] a run for her money."
"Americans feel betrayed by the Democratic leadership," said Sheehan.
"We hired them to bring an end to the war," she added.
Pelosi spokesman Brendan Daly told the Associated Press (AP) that the House speaker has repeatedly said
she is focused on ending the Iraq War.
"She believes that the best way to support our troops in Iraq is to bring them home safely and soon," Daly
claimed in an email to AP.
But you are what you do--not what you claim to do. Pelosi claims she wants to bring our boys "home safely and
soon." But there are only two ways to do this with "King George IV" in the White House: The leaders of both
the House and the Senate must either possess enough votes to overrule King George's veto, or they must be
prepared to impeach the king.
The Democratic-run Congress clearly doesn't have enough votes to do the one, and Pelosi refuses to do the
other.
You are what you do, Speaker Pelosi--not what you pretend to do.
Sheehan first arrived at Crawford in August 2005, as King George was enjoying one of his summer vacations.
She demanded to talk to our Duce face-to-face about the reasons for the Iraq War; Sheehan's son Casey was
killed in 2004. As her 26-day roadside vigil progressed, she quickly became the identifiable face of the anti-Iraq
War movement. Sheehan soon found herself joined by thousands of fellow Americans in Crawford.
In her Sunday statement, Sheehan cited numerous legal grounds for Bush's impeachment. She especially
noted his deliberate lies about the nature of Iraq's chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons programs,
including the hyped "danger" of Iraqi chemical and bio weapons made years ago--which the Administration
knew had been completely deteriorated for more than a decade.
But why stop there? From spying on fellow Americans without a search warrant (deliberate violation of the
Fourth Amendment), to firing U.S. attorneys who weren't personally allied to him (federal law prohibits the
hiring and firing of federal prosecutors for primarily partisan reasons) to revealing the name of a CIA agent with
a history of working in the field (revealing the name of an active CIA field agent is a federal crime punishable by
death by firing squad), one has an embarrassment of riches when one tries to decide how to impeach this
would-be king.
The lies leading our brave boys into Iraq is just the most obvious, and the most disgusting.
