Was U.S. Financial Meltdown 'A Perfect Crime'?

By Cliff Montgomery - June 17th, 2010

It now seems clear the current global financial crisis
was the result of widespread fraud. And it appears
that the top criminals work on America's Wall Street.

So why hasn't a single high-level bank executive been
jailed for such hideous offenses?

"One of the reasons may be that key bank regulators...
have largely left it to the banks to report suspicious activity
themselves," stated the lead-in to a fine video report
created by
The Huffington Post Investigative Fund.

Bank regulators of course are supposed to search for--and identify for possible prosecution--any instances of
fraud perpetrated at the nation's banks.

It's safe to say the Big Bankers have gotten away with "a perfect and successful crime," according to at least
one former financial regulator seen in the video.

If that's the case, then what will stop bankers and other financiers from performing similar crimes all over again?
